The spectacular statue of the immaculate conception was made around 1700. The exact date of installation is not known, however, it was definitely on its present place in 1708, short after the end of the Turkish occupation. The statue depicts Mary with her parents, St Anne and St Joachim. It is one of the best baroque public works of art in Hungary. Also, many legends are connected to its history. According to one of these a Protestant Rákóczi-soldier shot at the statue telling „Woman, give me bread”, yet the shot hit himself and killed him.
